The CPE is the most advanced ESOL exam offered by Cambridge. The exam is designed for advanced mastery of the English language for professional or academic reasons. Before you consider taking the CPE, you need to make sure that you are qualified for the exam. You must be able to use the English language to communicate complicated issues. You must posses a strong enough vocabulary to understand nearly any written document in the English language, as well as effectively communicate complex ideas both verbally and in writing.

The CPE consists of 5 different sections. They consist of the following:

• Reading Comprehension: You will be presented written text and graded on your ability to comprehend it's meaning.

• Writing Ability: You will be given several different assignments, such as articles or short stories, and graded on the quality of your written work.

• Use Of English: You will be graded on your ability to communicate, your use of grammer, and ability to summarize using the English language.

• Listening: You will listen to a verbal lecture and be graded on your ability to comprehend the subject matter.

• Spoken English: You will be judged on your ability to speak the English language. Vocabulary, grammar, and other factors will be taken into consideration.

Once you've passed the Cambridge Proficiency In English Exam, you will receive a certificate of achievement. This certificate never expires, and is recognized by businesses, universities, and employers world wide as evidence that you can communicate using the English language at an extremely high skill level.
